This is the spring that I have made using the helix object and the loft tool. Making the circle smaller made my best attempt look more like a spring rather than the top part of a water cooler. It would be good to use this tool to create interesting effects or model something like a looped roller coaster. Also, to make a shape of something in 2D, then add a circle/square shape would be a good way to transform from 2D to 3D.
